After the beautiful Cassin on Piccolissima and the legendary Comici on Cima Grande I return to Tre Cime, this time with Sara, to enjoy the sun on the fantastic and aesthetic Spigolo Giallo on the Cima Piccola di Lavaredo<\/p>\n

The Spigolo Giallo was opened by Emilio Comici in 1933 (it strikes me to think about it) and today it is one of the most beautiful, aesthetic and therefore also popular routes in the Dolomites<\/p>\n

For me it is a somewhat special route… it was my first VI degree as lead climber, I was 17 and my adventure partner was my Father… From that time between one thing and another I was no longer returned to repeat it… The thing I remember most besides the feeling of the summit (as if I had conquered the world) is my Father’s face when he arrived at the belay after the crux pitch… A mixture of terror, concern, anger, despair… Why!? Because I had belying hanging on two realy bed pitons (which if I think about it now I get chills) that you can’t get more old and under four meters from me there was a terrace with 3 bomb pitons (today there is also a bolt). I had made a mistake with the exit of the key dihedral (I had climbed too far).<\/p>\n

Aah how nice to be 17…<\/p>\n

I remember the calm and firm voice of my Father who, after stopping and arranging a belay a couple of pitons before reaching me, told me to continue climbing up to the ledge above (15m above) and (lying to me shamelessly, luckily I would add) that it would have been more convenient for him to belay me from below…<\/p>\n

I will never forget that episode… the calm, the firmness, the promptness and the wisdom that my Father had at that moment I carry them with me today! He taught me how to deal with “shitty” situations<\/p>\n

Today, after 15 years of experience, I laugh when I think back (it went really well that time)<\/p>\n

Originally Comici in the 33 went straight on the edge after the second pitch, but today due to the rotten rock it is preferred (as the topo) to avoid this stretch by following the beautiful gray slabs on the right and returning to the edge with an exposed and beautiful aerial traverse<\/p>\n

As you can see in the photo of the topo it is advisable to join the first two pitches (just offset the ropes well and lengthen a few pitons)<\/p>\n

I also recommend joining the traverse with the previous pitch<\/p>\n

The crux pitch is well bolted and be careful not to follow the dihedral for too long (as I did 15 years ago) but keep an eye on the left (just after an overhanging stretch) for a bolted crack that you need to follow to get to the good belay (3 pitons and 1 bolt)<\/p>\n

Even the last 2 pitches can be easily joined[\/vc_column_text]
