Expedition to Alpamayo - 5947m
Mountaineering Expedition to Alpamayo – 5,947 m
A unique adventure in the Cordillera Blanca with a UIAGM Mountain Guide
Located in the heart of Peru’s Cordillera Blanca, Alpamayo is considered one of the most beautiful mountains in the world.
With our UIAGM-certified Mountain Guides, you can make your dream come true — reaching the summit of this iconic peak and experiencing the authentic spirit of the Peruvian Andes.
Before the ascent, you’ll discover the magic of the Andean mountains, the warmth of local communities, and a fascinating culture that makes this expedition truly unforgettable.
A meticulously organized journey, ideal for experienced climbers looking for a complete adventure — combining acclimatization, trekking, and a technical climb.
🌄 Acclimatization: Ascent of Vallunaraju (5,686 m)
Before tackling Alpamayo, we will climb Vallunaraju (5,686 m), located about 15 km northeast of Huaraz in the Quebrada Llaca valley.
This ascent provides excellent acclimatization in preparation for the main climb and offers spectacular panoramic views over the Cordillera Blanca.
It’s a perfect opportunity to get used to the altitude and enjoy a rewarding first Andean summit.
🌄 Acclimatization Alternative: Yanapaccha (5,460 m)
As an alternative to Vallunaraju, we offer the ascent of Yanapaccha (5,460 m) — a mountain strategically located in the heart of the Cordillera Blanca.
Surrounded by towering six-thousanders, this peak is ideal for high-altitude acclimatization and for testing your technical skills in preparation for the Alpamayo climb.
From its summit, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of some of the range’s most iconic mountains, including Chacraraju, Huascarán, and Pisco.
A perfect choice for those seeking a complete and scenic experience before the main ascent.
🏔 Alpamayo: The Most Beautiful Mountain in the World
Described by UNESCO as “the most beautiful mountain in the world,” Alpamayo (5,947 m) is the dream of every mountaineer.
Our chosen route — the French Direct — is one of the most spectacular: a 400-meter face with around ten pitches, featuring snow and ice slopes ranging from 50° to 80°.
A solid level of physical fitness and technical climbing experience is required; this expedition is designed for experienced alpinists accustomed to mixed terrain and high-altitude environments.
