Breathtaking views and passages overlooking the sea, improbable steps on junipers, short and simple climbs followed by abseiling, long walks, bathing the paradisiacal and crystal clear beaches and nights spent under starry skies: these are the ingredients of the Selvaggio Blu trekking

The Selvaggio Blu Trekking is a demanding route that presents mountaineering difficulties and orientation problems which, combined with the non-trivial technical difficulties, certainly make it the most beautiful, fascinating and demanding excursion route in Italy.

It was conceived in the 1980s by two Italian mountaineers, Mario Verin and Peppino Cicalò who first, fascinated by the wild beauty of this stretch of coast, laboriously covered stretches of shepherds’ paths and their flocks and stretches of ancient mule drivers of the charcoal burners from the end of the 19th century, combining them with paths that were searched and discovered with difficulty between the limestones and the vegetation of the supramonte.

The result is an itinerary suspended on the extreme edge of a vertical cliff, fifty kilometers long, which between Cale and mule tracks starting from Pedra Longa reaches Cala Sisine

It starts directly from the hotel along the beautiful and easy path along the coast, the Navarrese coast to the north. After crossing the Piana di Forrola, at the foot of the Pedralonga needle, you go up the magnificent ledge that cuts the south wall of Punta Giradili and takes us to the plateau at an altitude of 700 m. Here is the Cuile Us’piggius where we have equipped our first camp

After dismantling the camp and filling our heavy backpacks, we left for the second day of trekking in the direction of Portu Cuau. After crossing the slopes of Monte Ginnirco and having infringed among the junipers overlooking the sea we reached and passed with a short climb the Bacu Tenadili and reached the beautiful bay of Portu Pedrosu where we took a nice bath and then continued up to that of Porto Quau where we have equipped the second camp

The third stage is perhaps the longest.

Leaving Portu Cuau we continued on the plateau overlooking the sea to Punta Iltiera where the Bacu Sonnuli begins which is entered with a spectacular suspended path. After another stretch on the edge of the cliffs we went up to Punta Salinas which offers a splendid glance over Cala Goloritzé. A descent through gravel and charcoal mule tracks led us to the wonderful Cala Golorizé and its amazing Aguglia.

After a nice regenerating bath we went up the bacu to one of the key passages of the Selvaggio Blu, Boladina. After passing climbing steps and a landslide channel, we finally arrived at the S’Arcu and Su Tasaru plateau where, under an unforgettable starry sky, we spent the third night of this trek

on the fourth day of trekking after passing fantastic sheepfolds and reaching the Cresta del Lattone we arrived at Punta Mudaloru where a breathtaking view of the coast to Cala Gonone was waiting for us and surprises of the surprises down in the distance we even managed to see dolphins. .. Incredible!

with a very long rappel of 40m in the void and the famous cat’s pass we then arrived at Mudaloru beach where we deserved a break and a dip

from Mudaloru then we continued until we descended into the beautiful Grotta del Fico and continuing to Olobizzi where a Luculian dinner based on typical products was waiting for us! Very good!!

in the last stage of our adventure we still faced rappels and climbing through the bush of Biriola which seems to have been built at Sardinian height…  if you are more than 1 meter and 60 tall you have to be careful to your horns 😉

And finally we arrived in Cala Sisine which after a well-deserved swim ended this super adventure

There are a thousand variations of the Selvaggio Blu, easier, more difficult, longer, shorter … the one followed by us and that I propose is the classic and original route created in the 1980s by two Italian climbers, Mario Verin and Peppino Cicalò
